Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it.

Last updated 3 August 2026

The short version

You can use almost all of Medicophilia without an account and without giving us anything. Your practice answers live in your own browser, not on our servers, unless you choose to create an account.

What is stored in your browser

The question bank saves your progress to your device using localStorage. That includes papers in progress, completed attempts, bookmarks, per-question notes, and your light/dark theme preference.

This data never leaves your device unless you sign in and choose to sync it. Clearing your browser’s site data deletes it permanently — we cannot recover it for you. You can also clear your attempt history from the performance page.

If you create an account

We store your email address and, if you provide one, a display name.

Authentication is handled by Supabase, which processes your email and a securely hashed password on our behalf. We never see or store your password in readable form.

With an account, your attempts and bookmarks are saved to our database so they follow you between devices. You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@medicophilia.com, and we will remove your account and associated data.

Analytics

If analytics are enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to understand which pages are useful. Analytics storage is denied by default and is only enabled if you accept the cookie banner. We do not use analytics to identify individuals.

Advertising

This site is free and is funded by display advertising. Where ads are shown, the ad network may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure and select advertising. Advertising storage is also denied by default until you accept the banner.

Ad networks are independent controllers of the data they collect. Their own privacy policies govern that processing, and we have no access to it.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
  • We do not collect any patient data, and you must never enter any.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. Email hello@medicophilia.com and we will respond within one month.

Children

This site is intended for healthcare professionals and students in higher education. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
